Lt. Donnie Gibsom

 

 

Lieutenant Donald Gibson began his career with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office in 1993 as a Jail Officer.  After two years in the Jail Division he was sent to basic law enforcement mandate training and became a Deputy Sheriff. 

Lt. Gibson started with the Patrol Division in 1995 and later was assigned as a K-9 handler.  In 1998, Lt. Gibson transferred into the DUI Task Force where he also continued his duties as a K-9 officer.  Lt. Gibson in 1999 completed his training and became a Drug Recognition Expert, one of only 20 experts certified in the State of Georgia.  That same year he was transferred into the Special Operations Drug Unit where he stayed until 2002.

In January 2002, he was promoted to Sergeant over the DUI Task Force which he supervised for nearly a year before being promoted to his current rank as Lieutenant in December 2002. 

Lt. Gibson is now one of two Lieutenants who supervise the day-to-day operations of Patrol Division.  He is also a certified Field Training Officer and Field Sobriety Instructor.  Lt. Gibson also assists in the planning and instructing of the Sheriffs Citizens Academy.
